Education Consultation

The Education Consultant, Heather Hinkle, M.Ed. provides services to parents who seek help and guidance as they advocate for their child in the public school system and private educational settings. It’s often a challenge for parents to feel as though they are full members of their child’s IEP team because the system can be difficult to navigate. Understanding the procedures and having additional information can make it easier to participate in the IEP process.

Parents are provided with as much support as they need to achieve specific goals and improve their child’s experience at school. While advocating for the best interests of the student, there is an emphasis on monitoring adherence to the regulations set forth in federal, state and local law, team planning, and developing collaborative relationships with school staff.

Services Include
  • Review of assessments, work samples, and contact notes from the school
  • Evaluation of IEPs
  • School based observations with written reports
  • Consultation and collaborative planning with families
  • Attendance at IEP meetings

Developmental Team

This team provides services to individuals within a wide spectrum of developmental disorders including autism spectrum disorders, learning and cognitive disabilities, and behavioral disorders.

Our developmental team consists of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Clinical Social Workers and a Education Consultant. Team members meet weekly to discuss cases and issues of shared interest.  This ensures that our work is closely coordinated and that our services are tailored to each patient's developmental needs.

Eating Disorder Team

This team provides comprehensive consultation and outpatient treatment to patients with eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. Patients referred to our program start by receiving a comprehensive evaluation to determine the type and severity of eating disorder, as well as to assess for other psychiatric and medical illnesses. If patients need inpatient care, they are referred to appropriate facilities.

Patients who begin our outpatient program receive individual psychotherapy with one of our therapists who specialize in the treatment of eating disorders. Patients also have regular visits with our team's psychiatrist. Care is coordinated closely with the patient's family doctor or pediatrician. Additional services such as family therapy and nutritional counseling may also be advised.
