PSYCHIATRISTS

Shin-Bey Chang, MD

Shin-Bey Chang, MD is board certified in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Chang is a native New Yorker who completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and attended medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her adult psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD where she also served as chief resident. Prior to joining Blue Ridge Behavioral Health in 2020, Dr. Chang was the director of outpatient child and adolescent psychiatry services for over 5 years in a community hospital in Baltimore, which included leading a partial hospitalization program that treated children experiencing acute and severe psychiatric illness.

Dr. Chang provides treatment, evaluation, and consultation services for children, adolescents, and adults. She has a wide range of clinical interests that includes neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, disruptive behavior disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, psychosis, and community psychiatry.

Zeb Khan, MD

Zeb Khan, MD is Board Certified in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He completed a four year rotational training program in General Psychiatry at the University of Manchester in England, United Kingdom. Dr. Khan also completed an additional two years of training in Adult Psychiatry at the University Hospitals of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio. He completed his training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. From 1989 to 1992 he served as a clinical fellow in the department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Khan has been in private practice since 1991 and joined Blue Ridge Behavioral Health Services in 2000. He provides psychiatric services primarily to children and adolescents but devotes a small amount of time seeing adults as well. His areas of interest are depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder in children and young adolescent. He treats a wide variety of psychiatric disorders in his practice and has extensive experience in long term work with severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents. He has been a consultant at the Jefferson Residential School in Frederick Maryland since 1999.

Dr Khan is a past member of British Medical Association and General Medical Council in London. Presently he is a member of American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and American Medical Association. He is also affiliated with Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Grace Thammasuvimol, MD

Grace Thammasuvimol, M.D. is board certified in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and provides consultation, evaluation, and ongoing treatment to children, adolescents, and adults. She graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park and Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her medical training with residency in general adult psychiatry and then fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD and also served as chief resident.

Dr. Thammasuvimol joined Blue Ridge Behavioral Health in 2014 and her clinical interests include psychopharmacology, transitional age youth, women’s mental health, and the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, ADHD, disruptive behavior disorders, psychosis, and autism spectrum disorder.

PSYCHOLOGISTS

Janice Herron, Ph.D.

Janice Herron, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist who specializes in clinical neuropsychology. Dr. Herron has extensive experience providing neuropsychological services in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient private practice, academic medical centers and the VA. Her training and clinical focus have been in lifespan neuropsychology, providing evaluation services to children, adolescents and adults across a broad spectrum of diagnostic conditions. She specializes in assessment of developmental conditions across the lifespan such as learning disorders and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, as well as other medical, psychiatric and neurologic conditions that may affect cognitive functioning.

Dr. Herron earned her doctoral degree in Human Services Psychology with an emphasis in Clinical Psychology and additional training in behavioral medicine from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She completed a pre-doctoral internship with advanced specialized neuropsychology training at the Medical University of South Carolina and Charleston VA Consortium. This was followed by an NIH National Research Service Award fellowship combining post-doctoral clinical and research training in neuropsychology at the Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs within the Medical University of South Carolina and in an outpatient private practice in Charleston, SC.

In addition to research and clinical work, Dr. Herron taught courses in the biological basis of behavior and psychopharmacology at Hood College. She served as clinical faculty in assessment training for doctoral level psychology interns while working in the VA system. Current clinical and research interests include performance validity, healthy lifestyle factors that promote brain health, and collaborative and integrative approaches to assessment feedback.

Cynthia Keysor, Ph.D.

Cynthia Keysor, Ph.D., works with individuals ranging from toddler-age through adulthood, in collaboration with parents and families when indicated. She has extensive experience in treating disorders of behavior, mood, anxiety, and adjustment. Examples of concerns addressed in treatment include those related to attention deficits, separation anxiety, generalized anxiety, depression, stress management, anger management, social skill deficits, low self-esteem, parenting practices, parent-child relationships, interpersonal relationships, and the adjustment to loss, change, and life transitions. Additionally, Dr. Keysor works with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and high functioning autism. She has also received extensive training from grief expert, David Kessler, and became a certified grief educator/therapist in 2021.

Dr. Keysor graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1985. After working four years as a research assistant in Child Psychiatry at the National Institutes of Health, she later pursued her graduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, earning her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Keysor completed her clinical internship through the Bingham Child Guidance Center and Louisville School of Medicine, where she gained more specific training in infant-toddler mental health and pediatric psychology. Her post-doctoral Fellowship through the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine further advanced this training and provided additional training with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities.

Prior to joining Blue Ridge Behavioral Health in 2006, Dr. Keysor was on the faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, where she was a practicing psychologist and Clinic Director of Outpatient Psychiatry.

Clark Pinson, Ph.D.

Clark Pinson has been conducting psychotherapy since 2001 and earned a doctorate in counseling psychology from West Virginia University in 2012. He has worked in a variety of settings including a community mental health center, child advocacy and rape crisis center, two university counseling centers, and private practice. Dr. Pinson collaborates with his clients to develop a therapeutic approach specifically for identified treatment goals. Therapies he often integrates in this manner include Humanistic-Experiential Therapies (i.e., Client Centered, Gestalt, Constructivist, Existential), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapies (i.e., Attachment/Interpersonal, Object Relations), Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Gottman Method, and Solution Focused Therapy.

Dr. Pinson’s specialties include trauma and stressor-related disorders (i.e., posttraumatic stress disorder, adjustment disorders, traumatic loss/complicated grief, etc.) as well as disordered eating. Some examples of additional conditions he frequently treats are depression spectrum disorders, anxiety spectrum disorders, life transitions (e.g., helping high school students prepare for common mental health challenges of college), relationship/communication problems, self-esteem, and chronic illness. He enjoys working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

Christie Tanner, Ph.D.

Christie Tanner, Ph.D. works with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Dr. Tanner specializes in working with individuals across the lifespan with neurodiversity and neurodevelopmental challenges including autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and learning differences. Dr. Tanner enjoys working with children of all ages and creates a nurturing environment for addressing their emotional and behavioral needs. She uses a collaborative, co-therapist approach to helping parents understand and respond to their children’s individual needs. In addition, she specializes in anxiety disorders including social anxiety disorder and obsession-compulsive disorder. Dr. Tanner uses a variety of empirically informed treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral and behavioral approaches (CBT, DBT, and ERP), attachment-based treatments, play therapy, and parent-child relationship focused therapeutic approaches.

Dr. Tanner earned her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the State University of New York in Albany with an emphasis on cognitive behavioral and empirically informed therapeutic approaches. Dr. Tanner completed her Clinical Internship and Post-Doctoral Fellowships at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Medical Centers and TEACCH Program where she received extensive training in pediatric psychology, neurodevelopmental disorders, and anxiety disorders.

After the completion of her training programs, Dr. Tanner joined the UNC-Chapel Hill TEACCH program with a wide-range of clinical and research responsibilities including a therapeutic program for toddlers with autism spectrum disorder, consultation to the children’s inpatient psychiatric unit, and services for adults with autism spectrum disorder. Prior to joining Blue Ridge Behavioral Health in 2005, Dr. Tanner worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families within a hospital-based outpatient psychiatric practice and provided clinical services to underserved children and adolescents in rural Virginia in collaboration with a pediatric office.

Mary Beth Curry, LCPC ACC

Mary Beth Curry is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) practicing since 2003. Her specialty areas include: eating disorders, family systems with members having addictions and/or personality disorders. She uses cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies (CBT & DBT) while providing therapeutic support to adolescents, adults, couples and families.

She earned a BA in psychology from West Virginia University (1990), a MS in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University (2003) and completed all but her dissertation in the PennCLO Educational Leadership Doctorate program at University of Pennsylvania.

Kevin Graditor, LCSW-C

Kevin Graditor, LCSW-C, provides therapy to children, adolescents, young adults and their families. Kevin specializes in treating Disruptive Behavior Disorders (ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder & Conduct Disorder), Mood Disorders (Depression & Bipolar) and Anxiety Spectrum Disorders.

He also works with difficulties surfacing from various life transitions and treats individuals suffering from insomnia. Kevin works within the therapeutic framework of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the Family Systems treatment model.

Kevin received his Bachelor’s degree in 1997 from Goucher College and his Master’s degree from the University of Chicago in 2003. He received his advanced clinical degree in 2007. Kevin has extensive experience working within the Frederick County Public Schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, where he has presented to teachers and other faculty members on various topics such as behavior management within the classroom and deescalating the angry student. Kevin has been in private practice for over six years, and provides therapy in both English and Spanish.

Florent Grain, LCPC

Florent Grain is a multilingual licensed clinical professional counselor, LCPC, who enjoys working with children from the age of 8 and up, adolescents, adults and families. His areas of interest include the treatment of anxious disorders, depression, grief, trauma and adjustment disorders and working with immigrant populations and children of immigrants as well as neurodivergent individuals. In working with children and families, Florent strives to create a safe and non-judgmental collaborative space where parents can explore a variety of topics such as parenting/parent training, attachment-based learning, parent-child interaction/relationship and build appropriate independence, social skills, impulse control, communication and coping strategies.

Florent is an ally to the LGBTQAI+ community and has worked with individuals within the community and their families. He also has experience working with neurodivergent individuals such as individuals with ADHD, hypersensitivity, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia as well as Tourette’s syndrome. He has experience working with empirically informed cognitive and behavioral treatment approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, as well as mindfulness-based cognitive focused therapy, motivational interviewing, interpersonal and family system therapy and believes in therapy as a continuous learning process.

Florent graduated with a Bachelor and Master’s degree in counseling psychology from the university system of Maryland at Frostburg State University, he also has a degree in psychology from the university of Lille 3, in France. Florent has experience working within the public and private school system at the elementary, middle and high school level where he participated in the creation of a Socio-Emotional Learning curriculum, presented and taught on different topics such as anxiety, grief and loss, anger management, communication and conflict, social justice, mindfulness and growth mindset. Florent has been working in the field since 2017 and practices therapy in English, French and Spanish.

David Hudak, LCSW-C

Dave Hudak is a clinical social worker and graduate of the University of Maryland School of Social Work. He enjoys evaluating and treating adolescents, young adults, couples, and families.

Dave works with the most common disorders: Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Schizophrenia, Autism and Bipolar Disorder. Dave has maintained a special interest in the evaluation and treatment of Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Additionally, he works with young adults in transition with issues around relationships, college, work, and life goals.

Treatment modalities include psychotherapy, skills training, cognitive behavioral therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, parenting guidance, and ADHD coaching: improving impulse control, understanding four aspects of attention, organization and time management and task completion.

Jennifer Howell, LCSW-C

Jennifer Howell is a Clinical Social Worker who works with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Her clinical interests include evaluation and treatment of Anxiety, Depression, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Trauma, Grief, Behavioral Disorders, and Adjustment Disorders. In her work with clients, Jennifer uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Behavioral Therapy, and Play Therapy. She aims to draw out her client’s strengths and to support their development of new, healthy coping skills. Self-control, frustration tolerance, anger management, mindfulness, time management, organizational skills, and emotion regulation are examples of skills she helps her clients develop.

Jennifer completed her undergraduate studies at High Point University in North Carolina in 2010. She then completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Radford University in Virginia in 2014, and more recently has earned her advanced clinical license (LCSW-C).

Prior to joining Blue Ridge Behavioral Health in 2020, Jennifer worked at a community hospital in West Baltimore where she was a therapist in the Outpatient Program and in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Earlier experience included working as a school-based therapist in a high school in rural, Virginia, and providing in-home therapy services in West Virginia. Jennifer is excited to now be working with clients in the Frederick area.

Elizabeth Landry, LCSW-C

Elizabeth Landry, LCSW-C, has been a practicing therapist since 1993. Prior to her time at Blue Ridge, Elizabeth was a lead therapist in both outpatient and residential settings as well as child welfare. Elizabeth has extensive experience in the treatment of adolescents, families and adults. She has worked with adolescent girls struggling with disruptive life circumstances (divorce/trauma), self-injurious behavior and school difficulties. Elizabeth is trained in the treatment and case coordination of disordered eating and body image issues. In addition to her work with adolescents, Elizabeth provides treatment to adults who are experiencing mood and anxiety disorders as well as relationship and adjustment difficulties. She has training in hospice care as well as grief and loss counseling.

Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland, College Park (1991) and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore (1993). She received her advanced clinical license (LCSW-C) in 1995 and completed post graduate studies in family therapy from the Family Practice Center (FTC), Washington, DC, (1998). Elizabeth served as a faculty member and trainer at FTC from 1998-2001. Elizabeth has taught as a Field Supervisor for the University of Maryland School of Social Work and is a Certified Advanced License Supervisor. She has provided various training and in-service seminars for Frederick County Public Schools and Hood College. Elizabeth uses cognitive and dialectical therapies as her primary treatment approach and has further experience in the coordination of care with various legal, educational and medical services in the Frederick area.

Malorie Marti, LCPC

Malorie Marti works primarily with adolescents and young adults in collaboration with their families. She particularly enjoys working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities and values providing access to therapy for this often underserved population of adults. Malorie focuses on working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders, anxiety, and developmental and intellectual disabilities. In addition, she has experience working with young people in adapting to physical and cognitive changes resulting from accidents and medical conditions.

Malorie utilizes a cognitive behavioral approach within a supportive and validating therapeutic relationship. She focuses on the whole person and emphasizes strength building. Malorie helps her patients in developing interpersonal skills, communication skills, coping skills, emotion regulation skills and confidence. She also focuses on building executive functioning skills such as organization, initiation, planning, impulse control, attention to tasks, and time management. Malorie enjoys assisting young adults with life transitions such as college, employment, relationships, and life skills.

In her role as a rehabilitation counselor, Malorie has developed strong relationships within the community and values community resources. She recognizes the importance of connecting her patients to their communities and available resources. It can be challenging for adolescents and young adults to successfully transition to greater self-reliance and independence while acknowledging the need for ongoing support and assistance.

Malorie is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. Malorie earned her Bachelor's degree from Slippery Rock University in Community Programs for Americans with Disabilities. She earned her Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Assumption College and completed additional coursework at Hood College in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has previously served as President of the Maryland Rehabilitation Association. Malorie joined Blue Ridge Behavioral Health Services in 2018. She draws from her extensive background in serving the needs of her patients and their families.
